This isn’t your standard concert. Highway 19 Concerts is setting up a piano séance in two acts with Bob Wiseman and Mike Boguski.
One instrument, two fearless players, no cowboy hats in sight 🎹.
Bob Wiseman, a founding member of Blue Rodeo, goes full punk-leaning pianist here… lo-fi tricks, sound collage, and sharp, funny turns.
Think Thelonious Monk sparring with William S. Burroughs in a scruffy Toronto back room. Expect sudden shifts and ideas that poke a little.
Mike Boguski, Blue Rodeo’s current pianist, heads the other way. Ambient textures, patience, melody that lingers. Piano as landscape, memory, weather. Quiet storms that slowly build, then clear.
They share the same piano and take turns, solo and stripped down. No genre crutches, no safety net, just two personal paths unfolding in real time. Come for the clash, stay for the conversation between their approaches 👀.
