April 30 @ 7:30 pm
Campbell River’s stage is getting a dose of drama this spring with The Shawshank Redemption, brought to life by a solid local cast and directed by Glen Clark.
If you’re a fan of the classic story or just want an excuse to hit the theatre, this adaptation sticks close to Stephen King’s original novella.
The show follows Andy Dufresne—convicted of a crime he didn’t commit—trying to hold onto hope inside Shawshank prison.
Like the film, it isn’t afraid to dig into tough themes.
The production runs a mix of evening shows and a couple of matinees. You’ll see a bunch of local names up there, including Brian Down and William Selby, pulling the story together.
Dates & Times
Shows start at 7:30pm on April 30, May 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, and 9, with earlier 2pm matinees on May 3 and May 9.
Tickets are available at www.rivercitytickets.ca.
Heads up: this one isn’t meant for young kids. Expect strong language and subject matter, including violence and some nudity. \
If you’re okay with that and in the mood for a gritty, gripping night out, this one’s likely to leave you thinking. 🎭
