Good Friday (Stat Holiday)

April 3 All day

Good Friday lands on Apr 3, 2026, and Campbell River slows right down. It’s a statutory holiday in BC, so banks and government offices are closed.

Lots of shops and restaurants switch to shorter hours, and transit often runs a Sunday or holiday schedule… check BC Transit before you head out.

Many local churches hold morning services, open to anyone. If that’s not your thing, it’s still a good day to get outside.

Walk the seawalk, wander the Beaver Lodge Lands, or head to Elk Falls for that big suspension bridge and river views 🌲.

City facilities like the recreation centres may be on holiday hours.

Good Friday?

Did you know… The date changes every year? It’s always the Friday before Easter Sunday.

(Easter is set using an old rule… the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21. That means Good Friday can land anywhere from Mar 20 to Apr 23.)

Easter Monday isn’t a statutory holiday in most provinces, even though federal offices take it? No wonder schedules feel a bit mixed.

And yes, Good Friday really is a statutory holiday in Canada. I don’t understand why… I think just to have a long weekend in the spring. Here’s a full list of Stat Holidays this year:
