MARS Wildlife Rescue Centre

Nestled in the community of Merville on Vancouver Island, (just south of Campbell River) British Columbia, the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society (MARS) Wildlife Rescue Centre is dedicated to wildlife conservation and rehabilitation.

Since its establishment in 1995, MARS has committed itself to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured, orphaned, sick, and distressed wildlife.

Additionally, MARS places a strong emphasis on public education and awareness regarding wildlife and human impact on ecosystems.

Address & Upcoming Events

Annual open houses, wildlife festivals, and fundraising efforts help sustain the center’s operations and expand its reach. Guided tours provide a closer look at the rehabilitation work and the stories behind the animals in care.

Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation

MARS is equipped to handle a variety of wildlife species, specializing in avian rehabilitation while also caring for small mammals and other creatures.

The centre has state-of-the-art facilities, including aviaries, rehabilitation enclosures, and medical treatment areas to ensure the highest standards of care.

The team at MARS, consisting of dedicated staff and passionate volunteers, works tirelessly to provide medical attention, nourishment, and appropriate rehabilitation to prepare animals for their eventual release back into the wild.

Educational Outreach

Education is a cornerstone of MARS’ approach to wildlife conservation. The centre offers a range of educational programs designed for schools, community groups, and the general public.

Through these programs, MARS aims to foster a deeper understanding of local wildlife and the environmental challenges they face.

Workshops, presentations, and interactive experiences cover topics such as wildlife safety, habitat preservation, and the significance of biodiversity.

MARS has celebrated numerous success stories since its inception. From the heartwarming recovery of bald eagles to the delicate nurturing of orphaned owlets, each animal rehabilitated is a testament to the centre’s  commitment.

Through its comprehensive rescue, rehabilitation, and educational initiatives, MARS not only safeguards the well-being of individual animals but also promotes a broader message of conservation and environmental stewardship.
