September 13 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Van Django is playing at the Quadra Community Centre on September 13, with the show starting at 7:30pm.
This group is rooted in the gypsy jazz style of 1930s Paris but takes the genre in fresh directions, mixing in creative improvisation, driving rhythms, and a bit of humor.
Their concerts feature original tunes, clever mashups, and arrangements that show off their wide range of influences.
Formed in 1998, Van Django has toured across Canada and internationally, with stops in the US, Europe, and China.
They’ve played alongside notable jazz acts and have become favorites at events like Djangofest Northwest. The group has put out four albums, all of which have been well-received and have enjoyed regular play on CBC and other radio stations.
The band features Cameron Wilson on violin, Budge Schachte on guitar, Finn Manniche on guitar and cello, and Brent Gubbels on bass.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
This show is a great pick for anyone looking to enjoy high-energy jazz, playful mashups, and world-class musicianship 🎻🎶.
