Originally from B.C., flutist Lara Wong completed her degree in music at McGill University before following her passion to Andalusia, Spain.

She earned respect in the flamenco world as the first foreigner in 60 years to win the “Filón” first prize for best flamenco instrumentalist at the Festival Cante de las Minas.

In 2018, she met Andalusian guitarist Melón Jiménez on stage in Madrid. There was an instant connection that led to this groundbreaking duo who use flamenco as their universal language to traverse vast musical territories.

The River Concert Series presents free evening performances all summer long, sponsored by the City of Campbell River and 99.7 The River.

Lara Wong, originally from B.C., is a talented flutist who completed her degree in music at McGill University. Following her passion, she moved to Andalusia, Spain, where she earned significant recognition in the flamenco world. She became the first foreigner in 60 years to win the “Filón” first prize for best flamenco instrumentalist at the Festival Cante de las Minas.
