Full Moon 🌕

September 7 @ 5:00 pm 11:59 pm

Sometimes known as the “Harvest Moon” or “Corn Moon,” this full moon will light up the sky if the weather cooperates.

Fishing During the Full Moon

The full moon’s light & tides can have noticeable effects on fish behavior.

However, different fish species are affected differently by the moon. You’ll need to experiment in your local environment with your local species to see what is working best.

Here are some theories to test:

🎣 Mornings after the full moon seem universally considered bad for fishing (theories differ as to why), and especially bad timing for salmon.

🎣 Many fisherman say tidal salmon fishing is best when tidal activity is minimum: this would be the times farthest from the full and new moons.

🎣 Some fish species are best to fish for at night under the moonlight of the full moon.

Journalling over time is a great way to do this (use a calendar with moon phases already on it to make it easy).
