June 15 @ 6:00 am – 7:00 pm
Father’s Day in Canada is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. That means in 2025, it falls on June 15th.
History
Father’s Day was started in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd in Washington, to honor her Civil War veteran father who raised six kids alone. The tradition spread north to Canada and around the world.
Here are some numbers
- Canadian fathers average 33.6 years old when their first child is born, nearly 3 years older than 30 years ago.
- About 72 million Father’s Day cards get exchanged each year…half go to dads, 20% to husbands.
- Americans spend over $22 billion on Father’s Day, though dads still get less than moms (Mother’s Day hits $35 billion).
