Registration for Carvers

This is a great opportunity to participate in a cherished tradition, but it’s also a great way to promote and sell your carvings.

Each participant will receive a $1,000 stipend for their involvement. Carvers are also encouraged to bring small to medium-sized pieces to sell during the event, with all sales proceeds going directly to them.

Additionally, carvings can be auctioned immediately after the event, with 75% of the auction revenue going to the carver and 25% allocated to the organization.

Transformations on the Shore?

Transformations on the Shore” is Campbell River’s distinctive annual driftwood carving competition, established in 1997.

The event originated from an incident when local artist Max Chickite created a beloved driftwood octopus named “Octy”. After vandals decapitated Octy, the strong public reaction inspired the creation of the competition, aiming to celebrate and display driftwood art throughout the city.

Today, the event attracts numerous local and visiting artists each late June, transforming the Sea Walk and Campbell River into a vibrant, living gallery that captivates thousands of visitors and residents alike.
