Big Truck Parade Details

Date: Friday, November 29, 2024

Schedule: The parade starts rolling at 5:00pm in Willow Point, making its way downtown by 6:30pm.

Route: Starts off Simms Rd in Willow Point, the parade travels north along the Island Highway to downtown at Tyee Plaza.

After the parade, Tyee Plaza will showcase the amazing trucks, and the tree lighting ceremony will set the mood for the evening.

Where to watch: Anywhere along the Island Hwy between Simms Rd and Downtown.

Personally, I like the area between Rockland and 3rd, another good idea is to park somewhere downtown and wait for the parade’s arrival at Tyee Plaza. Then you can enjoy all the other activities going on there and along Shopper’s Row / Spirit Square at the same time.

Please note: 🚧 the Island Highway will be closed to traffic from about 4:45pm to 6pm along this route!

Don’t miss out on this fabulous event, perfect for the whole family. The parade is part of our “Deck the Downtown” holiday event going on at the same time which will feature:

❄️ Vote on the Gingerbread House Contest
❄️ Appearances by Santa, Elves, Shoo Shoo the Clown, and Illuminated Angels
❄️ Sweet treats from Canada’s Best Mini Donuts & Pretzel Guyz
❄️ Live Music from the Pacifica Ukes and more
❄️ Craft activities and an Aquarium Exhibit at the Art Gallery

The City has partnered with the Downtown BIA and the Art Gallery during the Big Truck Parade to offer more fun activities for families. Join in for holiday crafts, games, and more exciting activities.

Come celebrate and enjoy the holiday spirit in downtown Campbell River!

History of the Big Truck Parade

The Big Truck Parade is an annual event that has become a cherished tradition in our community. The first parade was in 2009, and it has gotten bigger and better each year.

In 2020, the parade was cancelled because of the pandemic so this video was put together of past years as a “virtual parade”:

Video highlights of previous Big Truck Parades

It was also cancelled in 2022 due to an early snowstorm. But, 2023 was a good parade and decent weather. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the weather corporates with us in 2024!
