Hi, my name is Toni. I am the creator of this website. Here’s a little background info about how this site came to be, and where it’s going.
I moved to Campbell River in 2001. I quickly fell in love with the town, and raised my 3 kids here.
I founded CampbellRiverNow.com in 2002 to help promote my web design services and the businesses of friends and family.
I set up the first online directory for Campbell River’s community organizations and businesses and also published resources about fishing, visitor info, and recreation.

The site ran until 2017, but was put on hold for a few years when I took a full-time position for an international website publishing company; a fun experience that allowed me to travel and work on some of the largest websites in the world.
Now, CampbellRiverNow.com is back — the intention is the same: to be the best online resource and guide to Campbell River residents and visitors.
This time around, there is actually an active calendar of events to keep track of, wow! Campbell River is such a different place vs when I first created this website is 2002!
I’m also using this website to share some of my favorite hobbies: foraging for edible & medicinal plants and mushrooms on Vancouver Island.
After 20+ years in CR, I recently moved to Nanaimo (boo, I know!). However, I come to Campbell River several times a month to see family, friends, visit my favorite foraging spots, and teach workshops.
This means I can now report on CR as a visitor & tourists, as well.
How does this site make money?
It doesn’t! Yet.
Currently, CampbellRiverNow.com is just a labour of love.
I am opening up advertising opportunities in 2026 — if you would like to sponsor this website, get in touch!
