DESCRIPTION:The beloved Historic Puppet Theatre is back at the Museum! \n\n\n\nEvery summer\, the museum puts on short puppet shows for kids\, sharing stories from Campbell River and Northern Vancouver Island’s past. \n\n\n\nThere are two shows a day: one at 11am and another at 2pm \n\n\n\nEach show lasts about 20 minutes\, with sing-alongs and plenty of audience participation. I often see people asking “when do GST rebates come out?” posted around Facebook\, so I added these to this website’s event calendar for easy reference. \n\n\n\n\nImportant:The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CEGB) replaces the GST/HST credit in July 2026. \n\n\n\nPayments under its new name will be issued starting on July 3\, 2026. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat is the Groceries & Essentials Benefit?\n\n\n\nThe Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) replaces the GST/HST credit in July 2026. Under its new name\, the eligibility\, payment calculation\, and structure will be the same as the GST/HST credit. \n\n\n\nStarting in July 2026\, there will be a 25% increase to the benefit amount. This increased amount will remain for 5 years from 2026 to 2031. \n\n\n\nThe benefit will provide tax-free quarterly payments to individuals and families with low and modest incomes to help manage the rising costs of everyday essentials.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGST Rebate Payment Dates\n\n\n\nThe Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) typically sends GST/HST rebate credit payments around the fifth day of January\, April\, July\, and October each year. \n\n\n\nHowever… \n\n\n\nWhen the 5th falls on a Saturday\, a Sunday\, or a federal holiday\, the payment will be made on the last business day before the 5th. \n\n\n\nFor example: if the 5th falls on a weekend (Sat or Sun)\, the payment will be sent out on the last business day (usually a Friday) before the 5th. \n\n\n\nUpcoming GST Rebate Payment Dates\n\n\n\nThe next GST rebate payment will be Friday July 3rd\, 2026 (because the 5th of July is on a Sunday). \n\n\n\nHere’s the full schedule… \n\n\n\nGST Rebate Payments 2026: \n\n\n\nJan 5th\, 2026April 2nd\, 2026 July 3rd\, 2026 <- next paymentOct 5th\, 2026 \n\n\n\nGST Payment Missing? \n\n\n\nIf you do not receive your GST/HST credit payment by direct deposit on the expected date\, the CRA says “please wait 10 working days before contacting us“. \n\n\n\nYou can login to your My Account to check your next payment date or sign up to receive reminders about benefit and credit payments approximately one week before they are issued. \n\n\n\nYou can find more info about GST/HST and other tax credits and benefits here. \n\n\n\nWhat Time is GST Deposited?\n\n\n\nThere is no set time that GST hits your bank account\, it this depends on your bank. Banks tend to do these in batches. (for example\, I’m with TD and payments that come from transfers or direct deposit get posted at 4pm most of the time\, vs when the person or organization actually sends them to me). \n\n\n\nSo\, keep an eye on your direct deposits to see what time these payments come for you.  \n\n\n\nUpdates to GST Rebates\n\n\n\nEarlier this year\, PM Carney announced an increase to the GST rebate payments and an additional grocery rebate\, as seen in this newsclip: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhen will the Grocery Rebate come? \n\n\n\nThe new calculations will begin in the July (as they always do). \n\n\n\nMore on Canada.gov website about the CGEB

DESCRIPTION:The Museum at Campbell River is hosting a guided hike along the Ripple Rock trail\, and it’s more than just a walk in the woods.  \n\n\n\nThis 8 km round-trip hike hugs the coast of Menzies Bay and Nymph Cove\, with stops along the way to dig into the area’s past. \n\n\n\nThe group will pause at certain spots to talk about everything from Indigenous plant uses to old school logging days\, as well as the big explosion that made Ripple Rock famous back in 1958. \n\n\n\nThe hike finishes with a view at the Ripple Rock lookout — you can pack your own picnic lunch and enjoy it with a sweeping view across the water. After lunch\, you’re free to walk back at your own pace.  \n\n\n\n\n\nThe whole thing takes around 4.5 to 5 hours and is best for folks who don’t mind a little up and down on the trail (easy to moderate\, nothing wild). \n\n\n\nJust remember to pre-register\, and toss a few snacks and water in your pack. Good shoes are a must! 🚶
